Marriage: Taking the Plunge
59
Before you take that big step...
Before you take that big step of marriage, be sure that your partner is right for you. You should discuss everything and anything before you tie the knot.
Don't wait until after you take your vows to find out that he refuses to wash dishes or do laundry, or even take out the trash. Make sure she isn't really a slob. Discuss how many children (if any) you want and how you will share in their care and raising, who will do what household chores, who will balance the checkbook and take care of paying the bills. Talk about decision making and how you will come to an agreement if you have different views on a matter.
During the courtship you both talk about how much you care and what you will do for the other one. How about finding out what you expect from each other? Unless you have lived together before the wedding, you really don't know what it will be like.
Take precautions that it is the right step for you. Find out all the "bad" things before you get married, and decide if you can truly live with them.
