REPORT ANIMAL CRUELTY

Dogs do not deserve to be chained to a doghouse outside for their entire lives.  A dog will provide you with companionship, loyalty, and unconditional love.    Dogs are furry little children who also need companionship, loyalty, and love.  I have never understood why people would have a dog if they keep it outside all the time. 

But animal cruelty is not limited just to dogs, or just to animals kept outside.  There are horror stories about people who keep animals in terrible conditions inside their homes.  The ASPSCA has stories on their website about such cases.

If you see a case of animal cruelty, do something about it.  Check your local laws regarding animal cruelty, and report it to the proper authorities.  Often local humane societies have links to the laws in your area for the proper care and protection of the animals.  If they don't, try your local government.  And act on it.  Please don't let them suffer any longer.
